Sarah Nemes
Sarah Nemes serves as the Director of Public Affairs for Embrace Families. Embrace Families is one of the lead agencies for the Department of Children and Families in the State of Florida. Embrace Families, Inc. is a non-profit charged with developing community-based services and support for children and families served by the child welfare system in Central Florida. Embrace Families believes that all children have the inalienable right to grow up safe, healthy, and fulfilled in families that love and nurture them. Sarah covers local, state, and federal policy topics surrounding foster children and their families. Sarah specifically works on creating normalcy provisions for foster youth and health policy to support mental health initiatives across the country. Sarah joined Embrace Families after working with The Southern Group as a Lobbyist. As a Lobbyist, Sarah covered local and state clients on various topics such as transportation, health policy, environmental policy, and local and state procurements. Sarah also has been involved with land use, and development initiatives in Orlando focused on the Lake Nona area and East Orange County. Sarah also worked extensively on local Orange County Commission and Florida State Legislative races.
Sarah served as a Senior Aide to the former Commissioner, Jennifer Thompson. In addition, Sarah served as the Commissioner’s liaison for the following boards, MetroPlan Orlando, Central Florida Expressway, and the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs Board. Before Orange County Government, Sarah worked as a board liaison for the Board of Trustees at the University of Central Florida.
Sarah currently serves on the Young Professional Advisory Council and the Political Leadership Institute for the Orlando Economic Partnership. Sarah sits on the Government Relations Committee for the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce and the Osceola Chamber. Sarah is the Vice President of Programming for the Florida Public Relations Association- Greater Orlando chapter. Sarah also serves on the Florida Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers’ Board of Directors and The Orlando Science Centers’ Board of Directors. Sarah was awarded Florida Politics 30 under 30 “On the Radar” award in 2021.
Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration with a minor in Health Information Management from the University of Central Florida. Sarah currently resides in the Lake Nona area in Orlando, Florida.
