Patrick Penn
Raised in foster care, Patrick Penn overcame the tragedy of abuse and neglect to become a proud family man with a distinguished record of service to our country. Growing up, he learned the
importance of faith, family, and hard work. Patrick joined the United States Army upon graduating high school, where he served in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan on multiple tours of duty, including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. He received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Combat Action Badge, before retiring at the rank of Captain in 2017.
While serving his country, Patrick graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Criminology and earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Information Technology from George Mason University Volgenau School of Engineering. Continuing his commitment to our nation, Patrick put his 20 years of service and education to work for Textron Aviation Defense in Wichita as a Program Manager, leading the $14.5 million T-6 Trainer upgrade project for the Department of Defense.
Patrick currently serves in the Kansas House of Representatives where he represents District 85, which covers Northeast Wichita. Elected to be the GOP Freshmen Caucus Chairman, Patrick was also elected to be 1 of members from KS-04 District of the Republican House Coordinating Committee (RHCC), which is the fundraising arm of KS House GOP. CPT Penn was appointed, as a Freshman, to sit on the very powerful House Federal & State Affairs Cmte, as well as House K-12 Education Budget Cmte, and House Cmte on Children and Seniors. Penn is a Sunday school teacher and volunteers at Central Christian Church. Patrick and his wife Talia are proud parents of four children, Jaden, Josiah, Amariah, and Gabriella.
