Micah Derry
Micah Derry is an influential issue advocate from Ohio and the National Bail Reform Campaign Director for Arnold Ventures. With a noted public profile for combatting corporate welfare and driving support for criminal justice reform legislation, Micah works particularly well in building coalitions between ‘unlikely allies’ amongst Republicans, Democrats, and every ideology in between. Micah has played key roles in Ohio legislation passing ranging from drug sentencing diversion programs, to a ban on juvenile life without parole sentences, and to adequate funding for the state’s broken indigent defense agency.
Before running Ohio’s largest and most influential grassroots organization for five years, Americans for Prosperity – Ohio, Micah was the Deputy Director of Legislative and Policy Affairs for the Ohio Treasury, clerked the Health and Human Services Subcommittee in the Ohio House of Representatives, and a legislative aide.
Prior to entering government work and advocacy Micah was a professional ballroom dancer. These days when he is not working, he can be found on a nameless country road on his motorcycle or somewhere between Wyoming and the Middle East, backpacking in the mountains.
